Pat Robertson, please SHUT UP!


The man who has done more than nearly any other human being on this planet to bring the Gospel of Christ into disrepute is at it again.

Pat Robertson says that Ariel Sharon's stroke may be God's punishment for being willing to make territorial concessions in the pursuit of peace.

He also thinks that God may have been behind the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, apparently for the same reason.

If I was to say it was divine punishment, and I'm not (beyond what is common to all men living in the world), I'd say it was punishment for his genocidal practices as a soldier in the Israeli Army and Mossad.

But, again, I'm not saying that.

Glad you aren't saying that. Because if you were, you'd be obligating God, out of sheer consistency, to wipe out the entire Palestinian infrastructure.

Yup. No unbloody hands in that conflict.

But to be totally blunt, Ariel Sharon should be very glad that he never faced anything like Nuremberg.

He would not have faired well.

Perhaps. But I do think that taking history-making steps to try to end the conflict should count for something. Too bad the other side isn't interested in peace, being too bent on genocide.
