Among the biggest bigots of all
It is a sad fact that even as Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts has become more and more prominent a contender for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination, a poll recently indicated that 35% of the electorate say that they would not vote for a Mormon candidate for the presidency under any circumstances.
It is also deserving of notice that, according to the same poll, 37% of self-identified liberals say that they would not vote for an evangelical Christian candidate for president. And barely a majority of Democrats- 53%- say that they might.
Religious bigotry isn't pretty. And liberal Democrats seem, as a class, to be among the biggest religious bigots of all.
Sorry, Sen. Obama, but your party doesn't seem to be listening.
