Iowa Poll: Obama, Wiggins lead
The prestigious Iowa Poll, conducted by the Des Moines Register, has come up with its first result of the current campaign: a 49% to 45% lead for President Obama.
Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins, the one justice who voted to make same-sex "marriage" legal in Iowa who is up for retention this year, is doing far better than three collegues whom the voters removed in 2010. The Iowa poll shows 49% of Iowa voters supporting Wiggins, and 41% in favor of his ouster.
At this point in 2010, 31% favored retaining all three of the justices voters finally ousted, and 29% favored removal.
At a time when the media is full of heavy-handed attempts to "mainstream" homosexuality and opponents of same-sex "marriage" are stigmatized as bigots, intimidated by government officials in major American cities and generally drowned out in a sea of political correctness, erosion of Iowan's support for traditional marriage should not be surprising. But it is clear that Bob Vandeplaats and others seeking Justice Wiggins' ouster need to do a beter job in making their case in the next few weeks.
