Romney's supporters should stop and think
Although it still manages to fudge the actual nature of LDS teaching on whether Jesus and Satan are "spirit brothers" (here is the official LDS Sunday School material on the question), this Chicago Tribune article relates Mike Huckabee's apology to Mitt Romney for seeking information from a reporter concerning the matter- after affirming his own ignorance of precisely what the LDS teaches.
Mormon doctrine ought not to be a campaign issue. Gov. Romney's gracious response ought to close the matter. My prediction, though, is that many of Romney's supporters will continue to make the blunder of falsely accusing Huckabee of "playing the Mormon card-" thereby themselves keeping Mormon doctrine in the news, and effectively making it an issue.
The desperate Romney campaign is in full attack mode, and might well benefit from stopping, catching its breath, and thinking things through a bit.

No, of course I don't think the Romney campaign wants that. My point is that unfortunately it's working contrary to its own interest, and causing it to happen anyway.
Sigh.
It really is a shame, in my book. I don't have the least concern about him being dishonest or plastic or any of the other host of insults that people have thrown at him. He's the kind of guy who is SO well qualified to lead this country in terms of personal integrity and competence that it's a true shame people are quibbling him to death on all these non-issues (of which mormonism is only one). People all the time say, "I don't like any of these guys running for office." I think there are several good choices this year, but Romney is the cream. If they would look at Romney a little harder, I think people would see that the's the candidate this country has been waiting for.
