No, I think it's really that they and Trump are simply two sides of the same totalitarian coin. Regrettably, the Trumpists will get to exploit these attacks to create sympathy for themselves, just as the Fascists and Nazis did when the Communists attacked them in Europe during the early '30's.
When I was a student government leader during the '70's we were plagued by the SDS and others who wanted to play revolutionary without any idea what the actual poltical effect of their antics really were. It seems that the Left hasn't grown up very much since then.
