Just to clarify the point...

... this is a leak.

The President of the United States did not declassify it.

And it's something for which the dear lady deserves to be the guest of the people of the United States in a Federal prison.

Mary O'Neil McCarthy was and is no lady. She, like her mentor, Sandy Berger, who appointed her, stole secrets and gave aid and comfort to the enemy.

She should be tried on charges of treason, and if convicted, executed for her crime.

But since Sandy got off with a wristslap for a similar act of treason, I'm not holding my breath waiting for the gallows rope around Mary's neck to snap taut.
Execution would be more than a little harsh for an act which neither cost any lives nor really compromised our national security, and we use lethal injection now. Otherwise, I agree with you.

Unless Sandy really does have ADHD, of course. ;)

The crime of treason does not require the loss of life. Unfortunately, most states have gone wienie with lethal injections. However, if a federal death sentence is carried out in Nebraska, it is by electrocution. If done in Washington State hanging could be done by request only.
No, crime of treason does not require the loss of life.

A reasonable sense of proportion, though, would indicate that the death penalty would be, shall we say, over the top in this case.

And Federal death sentences are carried out at Terre Haute, Indiana.
