Romney reacts to Obama politization of bin Laden death
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has responded to President Obama's attempt to make the killing of Osama bin Laden a partisan political issue.
Apparently Mr. Obama's suggestions that Gov. Romney would not have gone after bin Laden are based on a statement made by Romney some time ago to the effect that he questioned the wisdom of "moving heaven and earth" to find one man when more immediate threats to our security existed. Mr. Obama's own pre-raid position wasn't particularly hawkish: "If we have a shot at him (bin Laden), we'll take it."
As any president would have who was fortunate enough to have had the benefit of the unprecedented intelligence about bin Laden's whereabouts which became available to Mr. Obama a year ago.
Mr. Romney is right: while President Obama deserves credit for getting bin Laden, he should be ashamed for trying to make a moment of national triumph- a unifying moment- into an opportunity for partisan gain.
