2012 was the 'hottest' and second 'most extreme' year- since 1880

NOAA says that 2012 was the warmest year on record, and the second most "extreme."

What nobody mentions is that we only started keeping records of temperatures in 1880.

Even when confronted with that rather embarassing fact, catastrophists beg the question, and hope that nobody notices.

Sure global warming is happening. But even it if is anthropogenic, we don't have the data to justify the hysterical conclusions some reach. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't take steps to deal with whatever role we may be playing in the process; after all, the survival of the species is at stake.

But we could do with less hysteria. To say that last year was the hottest and second most 'extreme' year on record isn't saying all that much.

Just that it was the hottest and second most 'extreme' year since 1880.
