'The first thing you need to know is that I'm always right.'

His world view-distorting obsession with Iran aside, these first words to his staffers at the Defense Intelligence Agency illustrate why Gen. Michael Flynn- brilliant soldier though he was- is a worrisome choice as Donald Trump's national security advisor.

Two egomaniacs at the top of the national command structure are two too many. But when someone as bereft of any possible clue about the world whose most powerful inhabitant he is about to become as Donald Trump is appointing a National Security Advisor, the idea ought to be to remedy that situation or at least compensate for it, not to make it even worse.

And for a National Security Advisor to be prone to repeating conspiracy theories doesn't make the situation much better. If we wanted a conspiracy theorist at the top of the command structure we could have elected Darryl Castle of the Constitution Party.

This is exactly the kind of stuff us NeverTrumpers were afraid of. I fear that we're going to be saying "I told you so" an awful lot during the next four years.
