It's Wictory Wednesday!
Don't look now, but it's Wictory Wednesday- my first at the new site. In fact, it's so new that, while the URL has been changed on the blogroll, the list at the Blogs for Bush site still has this blog linked to the old one. That being the case, I'm not sure how many people will read this post. C'est la vie (pardon my French- and I acknowledge that that which is French is not often easy to pardon these days). But there are things which weigh a great deal more heavily on it these days.
Patrick Henry's famous quotation contrasts the true lover of one's country with "the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot." John Kerry and Jane Fonda infamously played upon this phrase with the expression "winter soldier," which they took as the title of the "hearings" through which they and others besmirched the reputations of the Americans who fought in Vietnam.
As repulsive as that association is, it's winter in May these days. The media is writing President Bush's political obituary, and while those in the know say that we've turned the corner in Iraq, the loud barking of the Moonbats drowns out the voice of reason. This is not a time for summer soldiers, or sunshine patriots. It's more Valley Forge than the Fourth of July.
But the cause is noble, and in fact vital to the well-being of the nation and the world. The economy is growing faster than a toddler, and the situation in Iraq- which has never been as bad as the media have told is- is said by those in the know to be getting better. We're a long way from licked- but now is the time to pull out our wallets and roll up our sleeves.
Volunteer and/or contribute to the President's campaign. There are better days ahead. This is the time to make sure that there are better years ahead, too- for all of us.
