It's easy, at times, to regret doing the right thing

I must confess that there have been moments in the last few months- as when Iraqis danced and celebrated in the streets over the charred bodies of my countrymen who had recently liberated them from a monster- when I would have liked to see President Bush order the release of Saddam Hussein, his return to power at the point of American bayonets, and the immediate recall of all of our troops from Iraq.

Sort of like I wish at times that our troops had stayed in England sixty years ago this week, and left that most craven of nations, France, to enjoy the tender mercies of Adolf Hitler.
