This article by ethicist James Q. Wilson on the ethics of euthanizing Terri Schaivo almost gets it.

Almost, but not quite.

You don't deny the sick nourishment and water, even if they are terminal. At least if your name isn't Himmler.

"Pulling the plug" is one thing. Outright euthanasia is quite another.
