A helpless, aware human being is being slowly murdered
The court-sanctioned murder of Terri Schaivo, the abused wife whose abusive husband is her legal guardian and executioner, has begun.
Terri- who is neither brain-dead, nor in a vegetative state, nor terminally ill- has been condemned by her husband and the courts to a slow and agonizing death by dehydration (she won't have a chance to starve to death; she'll die of thirst long before that point). The only evidence that she wants this to be done, moreover, is the say-so of that husband, who is anxious to remarry and who has been quoted as asking at one point, "When is that bitch gonna die?"
Pray for Terri- and for the conversion of her murderers. Pray, too, for a twisted society in which this monstrous crime can be routinely spoken of as somehow a respecting of Terry's rights.
This is not a "right-to-die" case. It is a right-to-kill case.
Thanks to Bunny Diehl for the tipoff.
