A Vatican spokesman, Joaquin Navarro-Valls, has just reported that the Pope is still conscious, and concelebrated Mass in his apartment in the morning. He is aware of that today is Friday, and asked that a certain devotion the Way of the Cross be read to him.
The Pope received various Vatican functionaries afterward. His condition is described as "critical, but stable." His blood pressure, however, is described as "unstable." He is described as "lucid and calm."
