O'Connor resigns from SCOTUS

The first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, is retiring.

The first showdown on Bush Supreme Court appointments is about to take place. Generally a conservative, O'Connor nevertheless is a supporter of Roe v. Wade.

Hat-tip: Captain's Quarters.

Every time you say "SCOTUS," I think Duns, or John Eriugena.
The trouble with you, Eric, is that you're an inveterate theologian!

I was rather amused by the acronym for the Florida Supreme Court, which tried- by hook or by crook- to legislate Al Gore into the White House back in 2000: SCOFLA (pronounced, at least in theory, "scofflaw").
