I wondered why the funeral of Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who belonged to the ELCA, was held in St. Matthew's Cathedral and was described (wrongly) in at least one article as a "funeral mass."
It's a big, beautiful church, and it was decided that the service should be "ecumenical."
