A matter of obsession
Some interesting observations on the fact that even at the moment of their own team's greatest glory, for many White Sox fans, it still seems to come down to their hatred for the Cubs.
BTW, New York sportswriters have an excuse. But I expected Studs Terkel to know his own city better (especially being, myself, someone who received his Cubs fandom as a precious- if infuriating- family legacy from a dad who rooted for the 1908 World Champions).
As the T-shirt on sale at Wrigley Field says... "Generation to Generation." It shouldn't be surprising that absurd cliches borne of the jealousy of the fans of an unpopular and largely ignored (world championship!) team should turn out, on closer examination, to be bunk.
