That might have been true at one time. Hasn't been for several years, though- at least a decade, in fact. As of now, they're going to a bowl game, and still in
contention to win the Big Ten.

They've actually gone to bowls more often then not since the days of

Guess not. Penn State's win over Wisconsin eliminates Northwestern from the Big Ten race. But it'll still be three bowl trips in five years.
