Here we go!

The South Dakota House has passed a ban- which Gov. Mike Rounds will probably sign- banning abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or a threat to the life of the mother.

The bill is designed to set up an opportunity for the Roberts/Alito Supreme Court to overturn or modify Roe v.Wade.

Meanwhile, the Court has already agreed to consider an appeal of a lower court rejection of the law forbidding partial birth abortions.

Unfortunately, I don't think that it will work out in our favor, at least not this time. Currently only 4 members of the supreme court would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade (Thomas, Scalia, Roberts, Alito), whereas 5 wouldn't (Breyer, Kennedy, Ginsburg, Souter, Stevens). Stevens I have heard is holding onto his position as long as he lives for this reason (he'll be 86 this year). Hopefully Bush will be able to appoint another justice, or I pray to God that the Republicans are able to keep the White House!
Unfortunately, I agree.
