Hamas terrorists have demanded the release of a thousand Palestinian prisoners as the price of freedom for kidnapped Israeli soldier Cpl. Gilad Shalit.
Israel's counter- offer: let Cpl. Shalit go, and we won't kill Hamas member and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh.
The Israelis, as usual, are playing for keeps. If they didn't, the Arabs would have butchered every man, woman and child in the country years ago.
Ugly? Sure. Almost as ugly as the genocidal hatred which makes such tactics necessary.
