Another shot fired in the 'Summer of Exaggeration'
This is another one of those "hottest summer on record" articles. Like all of the rest, it fails to note that "on record" is the less than 150 years in which global temperature records have even been kept.
Such information is said to support the notion that we are in an unprecedented period of global warming- a process which everyone agrees is cyclical, the cycles sometimes lasting centuries.
Tree ring evidence supports the alarmist view of global warming. The geological evidence does not- indicating, in fact, that there have been warmer periods in our planet's recent history, in which neither the internal combustion engine nor industrial pollution could have played a role. Despite claims to the contrary, scientists remain divided as to whether green house gases (for which human activity accounts for an absurdly small fraction) or solar activity is responsible for the periodic warming and cooling of the planet which can be demonstrated to have taken place long before the internal combustion engine or industrial pollution were on the scene.
Interestingly, even in alarmist models, Great Britain is usually cited as location in which average temperature has actually dropped slightly in the past few years.
