Kurdistan might be a strategically intresting project insofar as it would inspire Iranian Kurbs to revolt and break off to join Iraqi Kurdistan. On the other hand, it would actually probably be a big disaster considering it would also encourage Turkish Kurds to do the same thing and mess up our relationship with a loyal Nato member. So, overall probably a pretty bad idea, even if it did weaken Iran.
