Pakistan won't arrest bin Laden

Pakistan says that Osama bin Laden will not be arrested if he leads a "peaceful life" in the country.

The announcement is an attempt to appease the Taliban. Bin Laden is believed to be hiding along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The announcement should formally end all alliances between the United States and Pakistan. No country that is willing to give Osama sanctuary should be treated as in any sense a friend.

I kinda remember a while back that some rather inarticulate guy said something to the affect of "you're either with us, or you're against us." Makes a whole lotta sense to us simple folk.

But they have nucular weapons. If they're not with us, and they have nukes, why, they might just sell the technology. Or the weapons.

Good thing they're isolated. Not a single border with any unstable or theocratic country that might bear animus against us.

Non sequitur. They aren't crazy. Good thing, too; if your suggestion were accurate, the only thing we could do about it would be to invade. I don't think you really want to advocate that.

And of course, there is Afghanistan- which the Taliban will certainly take back if we don't continue to support Karsai.

But if they harbor terrorists, they're to be treated as terrorists. We don't negotiate with terrorists, do we?

No, we don't. Your point? You think we should negotiate about something with Pakistan?
