More mud being thrown at Thompson

The sexist comments about Fred Thompson's spouse, Jeri, being a "trophy wife" and the outright lies (from which the LA Times is backpeddling) about his supposedly lobbying for a pro-abortion group are only the beginning.

Now the Chicago Tribune is alleging that the man who came up with the phrase, "What did the President know, and when did he know it?" and whose questioning of Alexander Butterfield first revealed the existence of the Oval Office recording system is revealed on the tape as someone Nixon saw as not very bright and a loyal ally.

Hello! Thompson was the Minority Counsel, representing the President's party. Part of his job was seeing to it that hard evidence was clearly distinguished from partisan cheap shots, and that involved, in to a degree. a posture as a Nixon partisan. Thompson never denied being a Nixon partisan, of course. But the record shows that he was nevertheless willing to follow the evidence wherever it led- and more than that, to vigorously pursue it. What we have hear is yet another unremarkable piece of information dressed up by the Left in sinister tones it simply doesn't warrant for the purpose of derailing the potential Republican presidential nominee of which they are most afraid.

Look for the mudstorm- unparalleled for any other GOP candidate- to continue. It really shows just how scared of Fred Thompson the Left really is.
