Today's ho-hum "revelation" in the media about Fred Thompson is that in 1996 he advocated ditching the archaic staple of American presidential campaigns, the party platform (the last Republican one was 92 pages long) in favor of a brief, accessible statement of principles.
This is said to indicate a lack of committment to the principles he wanted to enunciate more clearly and accessibly. Uh-huh.
