Romney ends campaign; McCain asks for GOP unity
Mitt Romney, who often earned the acrimony of opponents for his negative and not always accurate campaigning, today put the good of the Republican Party and the nation ahead of his own ambition and suspended his campaign in order to help the GOP prepare for the Fall campaign.
The all-but-certain Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, asked for understanding and for dialog on matters on which he and other conservatives disagree.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will continue to actively campaign for the nomination despite McCain's prohibitive delegate lead and Romney's announcement.
The bloodletting is over for now. It's time for the healing to begin- and the preparation to fight our real opponents, Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama.
