Stein on the Obama smoke and mirrors show

Mark Stein of the National Review takes the measure of Obamamania- one of the least substantial American political phenomena of modern times.

The guy may be an inspiring- if insubstantial- speaker. But he's also a former Illinois state legislator who not only has not yet completed his first term in the U.S. Senate, but has been AWOL from the job campaigning enough to raise questions about whether he has any experience that might conceivably qualify him for the presidency at all.

He's a very eloquent and very bright guy. He just has no business thinking anybody ought to think of him in terms of an office he can't even pretend to the slightest qualification for.
