Perhaps it's a contagious form of mental illness

Charles Krauthammer once described a phenomenon called "Bush Derangement Syndrome," an ailment of the Left characterized by "the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush."

Here's an indication that in certain of the nuttier regions of the Right, McCain Derangement Syndrome is beginning to appear.
