Joe Biden gives Obama a little credibility in the area of foreign policy, which the Democratic presidential nominee-to-be badly needs. Not that Biden is the best possible authority on the subject, mind you- or, when it comes down to it, that he's exactly a model of credibility on anything.Just that, unlike Obama, Biden has some idea what he's talking about when it comes to foreign policy.

Incidentally, though... wasn't it Joe Biden who said, early in the campaign for the Democratic nomination, that the presidency isn't the place for on-the-job training, and thus (at least by implication) that Obama wasn't qualified for the job?

You have to grant Joe Biden's good judgment at least on that occasion.
