On one point, Powell is right: while Barack Obama's ties to Bill Ayers are a bit more than merely those between two guys in the same neighborhood, John McCain needs to drop the Ayers meme- and not only because it's costing him votes.

I still maintain that their association is a legitimate, though minor, concern. But in the heat of battle both McCain and, frankly, I myself have made more of a big deal out of it than it deserves.

Barack Obama isn't going to bomb any buildings, and he doesn't approve of people doing so, either.
