The pros and cons of Bobby Jindal in 2012

Here we have liberal stereotypes of conservatives leading to Chris Orr of The New Republic to the conclusion that Jindal hasn't got a chance.

Here we have a conservative- Ross Douhat of The Atlantic- who has what I think is a much more realistic grasp on why Jindal ought to be the Republican candidate for president in 2012.

And here we have Blake Dvorak of Real Clear Politics on why he agrees with Douthat.

His brains and sheer political talent aside, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal presents exactly the face the Republican party is going to have to present to the nation if it's going to be effective in the Age of Obama. And if he's not quite "the Republican Obama," he's about the closest the GOP has to somebody who will be able to meet the incumbent four years from now on anything like equal terms.

He'll be able to make the case while other potential nominees are playing defense against the slanders of those who are convinced that to be liberal is to be enlightened and forward-looking, whereas to be conservative is to be a bigoted Neanderthal. And since that group comprises a goodly percentage of the journalists and opinion-makers in this country, spending time, effort and resources playing defense against their delusions will likely leave all too little of any for the mounting of an effective offensive against the Obamessiah.

Let's hear it for an ex-Hindu Indian American as the GOP's next standard bearer.
