Even the self-styled 'moderates' in the Obama coalition are beginning to see the dangerous and radical direction the furthest-Left president in our history wants to take us in, using the economic crisis as an excuse.
Tim Reid of The Times of London observes that it the Obama plan doesn't work, it will bankrupt America for a generation.
Charles Krauthammer points out that Mr. Obama is dishonestly using the economic crisis as a cat's paw for his far-Left social agenda.
Sally Pipes observes that the case for so-called health care reform is essentially smoke and mirrors.
And the Manchester Union-Leader has two words for the president's program: "wanton recklessness."

Conservatives have NOTHING to worry about, Obama's policies will take him down all by themselves... and a viable leader will emerge before 2012.
Blatant lies, economic and diplomatic incompetence, hidden radical agenda, and the ethics minefield that is his cabinet will have Barack on the run.
A betting man might expect double-digit inflation and a run on the dollar might do him in, but I have a hunch it'll be international strategic humiliation... or charges against Obama arising from Rezko's or Blago's cooperation with prosecutors. Neither of those two will be willing to do any uneccesary hard time to save Obama after he bus-chucked them so publicly.
And Obama clearly couldn't deliver the type of temporary, targeted, and timely "stimulus" he repeatedly promised. He completely lacks the the political stature to control Pelosi and Reid... who hit the trough hard, while bickering like siblings.
The paucity of GOP co-conspirators exposed Obama politically... this legislation now looks to be a huge gamble. When all this pork and welfare fails to generate real economic gains, the Democrats could face a bloodbath in 2010.
One could make the arguement he knows his legacy will already be in tatters by 2010-2012.. and is ramming through as much of his far-left agenda as he can before the day comes when people cringe at the mere mention of his name... sure seems like it.
