Obama invites Gates, cop over for a beer

It's not often that President Obama does something I can applaud. He should be encouraged to do it more often.

So nice going, Mr. President, in backing off your inflammatory characterization of the arrest of Harvard scholar Dr. Henry Gates as "stupid," speaking to the arresting officer over the phone, and inviting him and Gates to the White House to shake hands and have a beer together.

That's the way a president acts.

While it's a commendable gesture, I would bet money Axelrod told him this could be his Katrina, that he screwed up and the walls of public opinion are closing-in... and scripted the whole thing.

There's nothing genuine with this president.
Could be. But let's not be like the Democrats. The man did something right; let's give him his due.
