Santorum for President? Good news for Romney, bad news for Huckabee and Palin

Bad news for Mike Huckabee, and maybe Sarah Palin. Good news for Mitt Romney.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum has made the pilgrimage to Iowa, and is considering running for the GOP presidential nomination in 2010.

Santorum, who appeals to pretty much the same socially conservative crowd as Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin, would (further?) split the niche upon which both Huckabee and Palin would have to depend both in Iowa and elsewhere, greasing the already slippery skids toward the likely nomination of Mitt Romney.

Romney- who is the "heir apparent" in a party which nearly always nominates the "next in line-" has broad support in all segments of the party, something neither Huckabee nor Palin nor Santorum can claim.
