Here's a Catholic who isn't offended by the WELS teaching on the papacy

Believe it or not, here is an article by a conservative Catholic who actually understands what the Smalkald Articles mean when it says that the papacy is the Antichrist- and is not offended by it.

Good for him. While I find it hard to be quite as accepting of the Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent and what they say about those of us who hold the Pauline doctrine of justification as he is of Luther's admittedly inflammatory description of the papacy, I don't hold them against Catholics, either.

I do wonder, though, why such a big deal has been made of Luther's statement in the case of Michele Bachmann, and so little in the case of John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden, to name only three Catholics whose attitudes toward the teachings of their own church should be at least as scandalous to their fellow Catholics as the fact that the Lutheran Reformation didn't have the warmest of regard for the papacy.
