Pro-default Bachmann takes Iowa lead

Seems that the latest poll has Michele "Let's Default on the National Debt" Bachmann moving into the lead here in Iowa.

Which does not speak well of Iowans' vaunted common sense.

A lot of folks dont understand how interconnected investment banking has become, much less the massive damage that would occur if default were to happen.

Rather, they see huge waste in government, and likely see default as a way to push the issue.

Another way of thinking, is that default is inevitable at one point or another, and it might be better to take the poison now, rather than kicking it down the road.

I dont like Bachmann's ideas either, but I lived in IA for a number of years.
I think you're right in saying that lots of folks just don't understand the damage default would do- or how inevitable it is if the debt limit isn't raised.

If default were inevitable, our future would be bleak indeed. Fortunately, I think we have a chance to save the pospect of the economy getting better eventually- but only if both parties become adult enough to accept that painful budget cuts AND tax increases are BOTH going to be necessary.
