Now HERE is a disaster!
The National Pig Association, "the voice of the British pig industry," has warned that because of shrinking herds, a global bacon shortage is "unavoidable."
The horror!

ADDENDUM: Alas, in the last several hours I've heard this dire prediction repeated by American agricultural experts on both the local CBS station and the local Fox station. It seems that this summer's draught, with the resultant low corn and soybearn yields, have made hog feed so expensive that the only way for hog farmers to survive is to raise fewer pigs.
Expect prices for not only bacon, but for pork prices generally, to go up by about 10% in the next year or so.
Courage, people. We can get through this.
