Even Iowa

When they had that silly "Nuclear Free Zone" movement in the '80's, the lefties at Wartburg Seminary joined. I guess they were afraid that the Russians would think we kept a Peacekeeper missle in the clock tower and take the advice on the T-shirt one of the seminary wives wore: NUKE DUBUQUE.

I, for one, argued that we were in no danger, because it would be in the strategic interest of the Soviet Union to leave Dubuque standing.

Every once in a while the Des Moines Register will have a headline speculating about a terrorist attack here. Inevitably, the same question comes to mind: why bother?

But apparently somebody thinks it might be worth the effort. The Quad Cities actually have had a bomb threat.
