About some things, Pope Francis speaks in code

Pope Francis had some helpful things to hint at about abortion and gay "marriage" during his address to Congress. But how is it that he can speak out clearly about the ills of capitalism, but not about abortion, sodomy, and the practical abolition of marriage?
