Abraham Lincoln wrote, "I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong." That means putting country ahead of party and conscience ahead of conformity. And that is why I am a FORMER Republican.
I believe that the Wild Card is strictly Mickey Mouse. No third place team should be playing in October. The Pirates proved over the best test- the long haul of the season- that they were a better team than the Cubs are. And by rights the Cardinals should beat the Cubs in the Division Series. They are the team that should be going to the Series to represent the National League.
But my goodness, it's nice to have beaten the Pirates in the Wild Card game. And it sure would be sweet to beat the Cardinals.
Even though we shouldn't. We have no right to. No.
