A proposal for a New Year's resolution for Christians
Why we need to stop serving God in 2016.
Yes, that's what I said.
God is God. He has everything He needs. He doesn't need our service.
Our neighbors do, however.
And besides, the whole point of going to church on Sunday is not to do a good deed for God. Church is where we go so that God can serve us and give us what we need.
That's why we call it a "divine service." And it's a funny thing: the more we stop trying to serve God and let Him serve us, the more we end up serving our neighbor and pleasing Him.
Funny how that works.
