Let us pray...

...that Ross Douthat is not merely whistling in the dark when he says that as grim as things are looking now for Republican sanity, it ain't over 'til it's at least begun.

The debates and the way in which the polls have responded to them- or not responded to them-  have satisfied me that rationality isn't going to save the GOP from the Trump/Cruz brand of suicide. All we can hope for is the party rank-and-file to enjoy a spontaneous remission from their psychotic break.

And all this amid Hillary's meltdown. This is like somebody winning that big lottery jackpot and responding by blowing his brains out.
