Our closest ally gasps in disbelief

A fascinating account of the debate Monday in the Mother of Parliaments as to whether Donald Trump is a dangerous fanatic or merely a harmless clown, and thus on whether or not letting him into the country would be a threat to the peace and security of the realm.

That our closest ally should debate this point ought to tell us a great deal. In case anybody is confused about the point that even our friends are startled that we're even considering the Donald as a potential president or that his nomination (much less his election) would make us the laughingstock of the world, this should give that person pause.

But alas, I doubt that many who are supporting Trump care. All they care about is that they're mad, that in their anger they have come up with some truly zany beliefs (that our  inept president is not only inept but a Muslim born in Africa, for example) which a hopelessly unqualified and ill-informed demagogue is willing to repeat.  And after all, it's not as if we're choosing a president or anything...

By all means, read what the members of all parties in the House of Commons had to say about The Donald.

And reflect that not one MP of any party arose to defend him.

I'd ask what the Tinfoil Hat Brigade learns from that fact, but frankly, I don't want to know. I'm depressed enough about American electorate's sanity as it is.
