Don't do it, Joni!

Donald Trump met with Joni Ernst, my junior United States senator today. He seems quite enthusiastic, and says that he "will see her again!"

I just sent Sen. Ernst the following email: "I made a great many phone calls for you two years ago. I greatly admire you and believe that you have a great future. But please do not even consider being Donald Trump's running mate. You will lose all credibility with me if you do."

Again, I can understand Trump's attraction to Joni as a running mate. But this is one of those moments that define a politician forever, If Joni consents to be the running mate of an ignorant, possibly psychopathic authoritarian like Trump, she is dead to me.
