The danger: attracting Trump-friendly Democrats to the GOP may set the stage for future trouble for the GOP from Nativists, authoritarians, and the uninformed in future election years. And if the Republicans are going to recover from this year's disaster, they are going to have to distance themselves as far as possible from Trumpism going forward. Reasonable people simply won't take them seriously otherwise.
