Only 28% of Americans want Trump to run again in 2020
Seems that only 28% of Americans want Donald Trump to run for re-election.
54%- including 20% of Republicans- don't.
I expect it to only get worse as his protectionist trade policies bear their bitter fruit and people begin to realize how globally idiotic the program he ran on in 2016 really was.
Yeah, as many people have said: he's keeping his promises. And that's the problem- his, and ours.
Count on it: one way or another, this particular national nightmare will be over in January of 2020. The trouble- as I foresaw in 2016- is that that month will mark the beginning of a new nightmare: a domination of the White House by far-Left Democrats which I don't expect to end in my lifetime.
The decision of Republicans to vote for Donald Trump in 2016 and to continue to back him despite all his antics since then is going to be a costly one. It will spell the end of the Republican Party as we have known it. Former Republicans like me, who left the party when Trump became the nominee, won't be coming back. It's exhausted its credibility and soiled its brand for all time.
The nomination and election of Donald Trump mean that there will never come a day when I, personally, wouldn't be shamed by a label I once wore with pride: Republican. It will never again be the party of Lincoln or Eisenhower or Reagan.
From this time forward, it is condemned to be the party of Trump. Something broke in the Republican party in 2016, and it can never be fixed.
