Dudes...
I am not a fan of my own generation. The Baby Boomers were the laziest, most self-indulgent, unjustifiably self-impressed and self-righteous, and spoiled generation in the history of the human race. I do not like to make fun of the millennials, not least because my own generation is ultimately to blame not only for their deficiencies and problems but for those of all the generations in between.
The Baby Boomers may well be the curse which dooms the human race.
But this is bad. Really bad. It's not their fault, but the Millenials are without question the most ignorant generation our nation has ever produced. Their ignorance has largely driven the maladaptive social changes of our time, and the inability of the American people to deal rationally with the problems which face us. They were not the people who gave us Donald Trump. They are, however, the people who virtually guarantee that Donald Trump and the ignorance of the befuddled, gullible, and ignorant people who made him president are the templates for what I am reluctantly forced to expect will be the decline and fall of not only the United States but Western civilization itself.
The Millenials as a generation, and we as a people know very little- and having never been taught so many things necessary to responsible citizenship, having subordinated logic to emotion and having lost the very knack of thinking logically, we show precious little promise of being able to put to use what little we do know.
Four out of ten Millennials don't even know that six million Jews died during the Holocaust.
Don't blame crazy and intellectually dishonest Holocaust deniers and anti-semitic bigots for that. Blame the teachers of our youth. Blame our professional educators. Blame our society's continual indulgence of the young in their ignorance and even lunacy.
Blame us Boomers, when all is said and done.
And contemplate the fact that not only are an unprecedented percentage of the college graduates of this generation functionally illiterate, but their children are not being even taught how to write.
I weep for America's future. I am grateful that I have no children of my own, and that none of my offspring will see the dark age to come.
