Is this blog going to have to move? How about it, Google?
I can't fault Google Ads for treating Breitbart, World News Daily, and a bunch of other marginal, far-Right propaganda machines as "fake news sites," because that's exactly what they are. But now they've gone much too far, and I may no longer be able in conscience to use Google's services because of it.
The Federalist- a very credible conservative magazine- tells us that the publishing arm of my own Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Concordia Publishing House, will no longer be allowed to advertise on Google Ads because of "the faith we express."
But now, it seems that things have gone further. The website for CPH reports that Google Ads is now rejecting ALL faith-based advertising. Religious discrimination of this magnitude is simply intolerable.
I am waiting until Google has had a chance to reconsider. But if this stands, despite the huge hit this and my other blog will take from doing so, I will move to Wordpress. I will stop using Gmail and do my searching ad Duck Duck Go.
When Mozilla unconscionably fired Brendon Eich as its CEO over his personal and religious beliefs concerning gay "marriage," I stopped using all Mozilla products despite having been a long-time enthusiast. I will do the same with Google if this stands. The Social Left has always been quick to resort to boycotts to force people to conform to their expectations. Religious folks and most mainstream conservatives have been reluctant to do so out of respect for the rights of others to disagree.
But the time has come for us to stop being passive. Google, if you are going to discriminate against us on the basis of our religious beliefs and against religious speech in general, it's past time that we replied in kind and stopped using your products. Perhaps a boycott of products which you do advertise might even be in order.
So how about it, Christians? How about it, conservatives and centrists?
How about it, Google? If you want to contact them about their decision to discriminate against faith-based ads, their number is +1 855-836-3987.
ADDENDUM: Don't bother. See the next post. You'll only get the brush-off. They don't care what we think.
