Donald Trump is delusional and dangerous
The President is completely off the rails.
I missed this, but on May 8 Mr. Trump predicted that COVID-19 "is going to go away without a vaccine."
He denied that the virus was a problem until the White House taskforce rattled him by predicting up to two million deaths if we didn't shut things down. Then he acknowledged reality briefly, claiming falsely that he had "always" known that it was going to be a pandemic.
Since then he's been encouraging states that haven't met the White House Task Force guidelines to open up anyway. And now this.
My last post displays the insanity that ensues from those who don't know any better than to listen to him. Premature openings are a threat to public health. So is the kind of reckless, irresponsible misinformation POTUS is continually spouting about the pandemic and the virus. A shockingly large percentage of the population believes anything he says, and people are going to die as a result. Having Donald Trump at the helm of state in a crisis like this simply makes a bad situation worse than it has to be. All he can do is muddy the waters and encourage selfishness and irresponsibility.
If the Cabinet had the backbone of a banana, they would invoke the 25th Amendment and take the man out of a position in which he can do so much harm.
ADDENDUM: Mr. Trump was advised in January that immediate action was required to prevent a catastrophe. He finally responded on March 16.
Here is an ongoing count of the estimated preventable deaths of Americans due to COVID and attributable for Mr. Trump's decision to live in the state of denial he has since lapsed back into during the critical early weeks of the outbreak. The numbers are also on display on a sign in Times Square.
Dr. Fauci has estimated that as many as sixty thousand lives could have been saved if social distancing had begun even one week earler.
