Iowa's GOP finally gives Rep. Steve King the bounce

U.S. Rep. Steve King, who has been embarrassing Iowa with his amazingly insensitive and racist comments for years, and has become such a pariah in the House GOP caucus that he's been stripped of all his committee assignments, was defeated in yesterday's primary in his bid for renomination by State Rep. Randy Feenstra.

Good. The Republican Party has a great deal to answer for given the past four years- and, in King's case, far beyond. But every glimmer of hope that redemption may yet be possible for the party of Lincoln is a good thing for America.

A national party that did not scruple to embrace our national embarrassment, President Trump, drew the line at a guy who couldn't see what was wrong with terms like "white nationalist" and "white supremacist." And while it took a while- he served nine terms in Congress- the people of his district have apparently had enough, too.
